Charity Work

Charitable giving is fundamental to the Allsop culture. When Pat Allsop died in 1992 and left his estate to the firm his father had founded, his partners decided to launch a charitable trust in his name.

The proceeds of that charitable trust are used for education and the relief of poverty and staff regularly get involved in fundraisers, whether it’s getting involved in sponsored jumps, bike rides and triathlons or providing auctioneers for fundraising events.

Allsop is also a Foundation Partner of LandAid, the property industry’s leading charity, which gives the disadvantaged opportunities to reach their potential.

Corporate social responsibility and supporting good causes has therefore always been part of the Allsop culture.

Auctions

Allsop hold six commercial auctions every year with an average sales success rate of 85%.

It also holds seven residential auctions each year with an average sales success rate of 80%.

At the start of each year, the Allsop Commercial and Residential teams release in-depth Annual Auction Reviews, which offer an overview of Allsop auction sales from the previous year.

These reviews provide analysis on properties sold, yields and the types of vendor selling at auction, comment on emerging buyer trends and an outlook for the year ahead.

The company notes that the ‘continuing downbeat news emanating from the retail sector, increasing uncertainty surrounding the Brexit negotiations and the rise in interest rates two months earlier, have all weighed heavily on Investors’ confidence’.

However, despite this, in 2018 the firm raised £926m from commercial and residential UK auction sales, maintaining its position as the UK’s leading auctioneer.

The Allsop commercial auction team continued this trend in 2018, raising a total of £518m over the six sales last year

Commercial auctions in May 2019 alone had a sales success rate of 74% with a total value of £67,942,500. In March 2019 sales success rates were 90% and the total value was £60,202,300.

Past residential auctions for May 2019 had a sales success rate of 75% and the total value of £65,838,593. In March 2019, residential auction results had an 83% success rate with a total value of £56,653,450.

In 2018 the commercial auction team reflected on the results of their sales over the last year, what they learned and how the market might look in the early part of next year.

On 16 October of that year, the team had their biggest sale offering a total of 270 lots which resulted in total sales on the day of £97.03m with a success rate of 73%.

With sales after, the result improved to £115m and an 81% success rate.
