Chinese Buyers Set To Be The Leading Foreign Investors by 2016

London’s commercial property market has experienced an outstanding first half of 2014 due to the unexpected commercial property boom that the British capital is experiencing. Figures and facts that we have provided in one of our previous blogs indicate that there has been a surge of both indigenous and foreign investors flooding London to utilise the British capital’s real estate potential.

Just as many people would have understandably thought that London’s commercial property boom was nearing its’ end, it has been reported that we are yet to see the best of foreign investment. Transactions involving foreign buyers are predicted to increase, with Chinese buyers forecasted to be the dominant force within the industry by the year 2016.

These statistics were compiled by Juwai.com, China’s leading international property website. Juwai.com reports that 82% of its 1.5 million strong monthly audience are Chinese users, and that the number of Chinese buyers investing in commercial property in the British capital has increased by an enormous 1500% since 2010. In 2010, transactions involving Chinese investors averaged £54m per year and this has since leapt to an incredible annual average of £1 billion.

Chinese buyers are not only dominating the commercial property market; they are also highly visible amongst residential homebuyers too. According to Prime Presi the journal of property, Chinese buyers have purchased approximately 27% of London’s residential homes, and they have been predicted to overtake their Asian counterparts Singapore, who have been the leading foreign investors for a long time. With such positive and confident investment, it’s only fair to suggest that London’s property market is going to be a haven for foreign investors.
