Know What Your Customer Wants

As commercial property consultants in London we hear a lot of talk of our clients wanting to understand their customers better. We have already looked at understanding the different types of shopper, but with the average consumer being typically less loyal and trusting it is getting increasingly difficult to market yourself.

Put Yourself in Their Shoes

Naturally and understandably, customers frequently go to the cheapest or nearest store, so as a result their loyalty can be fleeting. Look beyond your own business and understand the full range of options available to your customer. Not only will this give you an insight into your own consumers’ mentality but will give you something of an insight into your competitors.

As well as regarding options available to them, think about the service your customer receives. Whilst we have no doubt you’re providing super customer service, what about their overall experience? Does it take an age at the till? Perhaps run through role-playing exercises to establish weaknesses in service or even just to trim the fat and speed up the system.

Diversify Your Staff’s Roles

By ‘diversifying your staff’s roles’, we mean give your staff the experience of other members within your company. Not everyone fully understands the roles of other team members, as a result there may be something that they could be doing to streamline the service process.

Anticipate

Try to envision what the future may hold for you, your customers or even technology. Being able to shift your market accordingly and responsively will give you an edge over competitors and mean that you are quicker to react to change.

It’s all too easy to get stuck in one mindset when operating a business, particularly if it’s a successful one. But remaining successful and profitable can be difficult if you ignore the needs of the market or, even worse, the needs of the consumer.

If you’re looking to take a new step with your business or even just looking for a fresh location to give your new venture a base and a home, don’t hesitate to contact us on 0208 863 8680 and one of our friendly professionals will be eagerly awaiting your call.
