Star-studded lineup graces the 10th #PrideviewCricket Cup amidst record temperatures!

Our 10th #PrideviewCricket Cup truly was a game-charger, with no less than 8 former England internationals attending the event and, for the first time, an exhibition match taking place between a Property All Star team and an Ex-England Team!

We are delighted to announce that despite the record temperatures, we had around 150 people brave the heat (and the barrage of sixes), helping us raise £28,000 for our chosen charity, One Kind Act! Massive thanks to all our sponsors and donors for supporting the very worthy causes that One Kind Act will be supporting – please see attached details of how the monies will be distributed.

You can view the awesome pics of the day on our Facebook album here and watch video highlights on youtube below.

Remember if you would like to support, you still can do so on our dedicated fundraising page here.

#PrideviewCricket Cup

This year we had 6 teams from the property industry competing for the coveted prize, Knight Frank, Allsop, Axiom Stone, SBI UK, Major Estates and of course, Prideview.

Each team donated generously and was able to bolster their squads with a ex-England cricketer, choosing from: Owais Shah, Alex Tudor, Samit Patel, Devon Malcolm, Sajid Mahmood and Simon Jones.

The level of cricket was simply breathtaking, in particular with the batting – and although it was a hot, dry day, it was constantly raining sixes! Whilst Major Estates smashed both Prideview and SBI out of the parrk in Group A, the standout pair were rockstar commercial agent Dilip Shah and Trent Rockets superstar Samit Patel who plundered 45 runs off just 12 SBI balls with Dilip in particular making a crucial contribution of 1 off 1 ball!

In a very competitive Group B, Knight Frank just about pipped the group thanks to a 1 run victory over 2 time champions Axiom Stone, setting themselves for a first final against Major Estates.

Runners up Allsop therefore would meet Prideview in the Champions Trophy Final, which by mutual consent was reduced to a super over.  Having been set a target of 17 to win by Prideview, Allsop looked dead and buried after losing a wicket on the first ball, however thanks to some comical wicket-keeping from Prideview’s Pritesh Patel and a gift of 6 overthrows, Will Clough’s men needed 4 off the last ball to clinch it, which they memorably scored sparking of wild champagned-fuelled celebrations which no doubt went long into the night!

In the final, the dominant Major Estates team smashed 5 sixes to set a target of 70 and in the end ran out comfortable winners as Knight Frank lost wickets at key times ending up with just 37.

Congraluations to Major Estates, a new name on the trophy and no doubt a force to beat in 2023!

Ex-pros Exhibition Match: Prideview All Stars vs Bashings Vi

With a marquee filled with spectators, this was the game everyone had come to see. Property’s finest versus some of England’s finest, in a reduced overs game (6 overs each way oweing to the fierce heat!).

And the game did not disappoint with the Pro’s batting first with big guns Owais Shah and Samit Patel smashing 51 runs off the first two overs, allowing Alex Tudor, Simon Jones, Sajid Mahmood and Devon Malcolm to cruise to a daunting target of 89 runs off the six overs.

After a solid start from Major’s Jehan and Knight Frank’s Jaidev, it was over to PrideviewCricket’s very own organiser Nilesh Patel and Allsop’s Sam Trotman to keep the all stars in the game. With Devon Malcolm steaming in, it didn’t look good, but somehow Nilesh pulled out literally his innings of a decade taking 5 4s and 1 6 off Devon and Samit Patel in an 8 ball 28 leaving the all stars with 18 needed off their last two overs.

Unfortunately for Summiey from Axiom and Himanshu from SBI, Samit Patel was clearly riled up after being smashed up by his Prideview partner and started turning the ball square with his off spinners an clinching two wickets off the last 3 balls to tie the game at 89 a piece!

Fortunately, with energy levels very much depleted, the Prideview All Stars were able to dig out an ancient rule dating back to 2019 where apparently tied games can be won on boundaries stuck – and amazingly none of the England pro’s disputed it!

OMT Cricket Club Colts

Another first for this year was the addition of the Old Merchant Taylors CC Colts, for whom we hosted interclub matches for 30 children aged U10 to U15. Prideview Group has recently begun sponsoring the club in an effort to support the local community and we were delighted that we could give our young superstars the opportunity to meet some cricketing greats, including London Spirit all-rounder Ravi Bopara, who presented their medals and trophies, and former England test legend Gladstone Small.

Congratulations to all who participated and in particular to Aria Chakravorty (U10), Hertarth Alagiya (U11) and Yash Kotecha (U13) for winning the day’s most runs, wickets and catches awards respectively!

Auction, Raffle, Ladies Bowl-Out and Spectator Amenities

During the day, we auctioned off some stunning cricket memorabilia and handed out some fantastic raffle prizes. We would like to thank all those who donated prizes which enabled us to raise funds, and all of those who bought lots and tickets.

We were also delighted when one trophy came back to Prideview – the fiercely-contested (!) Ladies Bowl Out which was won by our very own Leona Beckford!

With plenty of food, drink, ice cream and entertainment aside from the cricket, and even free massages provided by R&D Physio, there was never a dull moment and we would like to thank Harold Benjamin and Trace Solution who bought tables in our VIP Marquee and supported the day with their presence.

Thank you to our Sponsor Byju’s Future School and see you next year!

This year for the first time we took on a sponsor to help us absorb the additional costs related to putting on a VIP Marquee and hosting celebrity players. If you have a child who might benefit from online maths or coding classes, Byju’s Future School will give 30% off classes for those in our network who sign up via this tracked link. If you have any questions about their service do let us know and if you might be interested in sponsoring our event in future years, do contact Nilesh Patel to discuss.

Whether you want to enter a team and play alongside a professional, or play against the pro’s in the exhibition game, or just be served food and drink at yoru own table on summer’s day, next year we would love to welcome you, so do please contact Nilesh Patel to ensure you are the first to know once we have a date.

Thank you to everyone who helped and supported our 10th #PrideviewCricket Cup – please see details of all those generous supporters in our event brochure here.
